Canals of Amsterdam

Because of the love for our city we started the project 'Canals of Amsterdam'. Our canal belt is world-famous and is represented on the Unesco World Heritage List. Every year it's a great attraction for tourists to experience these historic wharfs and bridges. Unfortunately many of them are in bad shape, some of them are even collapsing. The Municipality of Amsterdam started a renovation project that will take 20 years (cost: over 2 billion euros!).

With the project 'Canals of Amsterdam', we want to create awareness for this situation. We took photos of fished-up items from the bottom of the canals. Items decorated with underwater life. The shells symbolize the beauty and decay of the canals.

We are working on an exhibition where the prints are for sale. The profit will used for a secret canal project. Stay tuned for more!
